Maldon District Council has announced the “Where Quality of Life Matters” Community Fund, designed to support initiatives that bring people together, boost the local economy, and protect the environment.

What the Fund Supports

The scheme is part of the Council’s Corporate Plan (2025–2028) and will give priority to projects that:

  • Support Communities – tackling isolation, improving mental and physical wellbeing, and fostering stronger community connections.
  • Invest in the District – enhancing community facilities, public spaces, and cultural opportunities for residents, visitors, and businesses.
  • Grow the Local Economy – encouraging innovation, tourism, training, and investment in local businesses.
  • Protect the Environment – reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, and supporting climate resilience in line with the Council’s Climate Action Strategy.

Who Can Apply

Applications are welcome from:

  • Town or Parish Councils in Maldon District
  • Registered voluntary, community, or charitable organisations
  • Registered Social Enterprises
  • Organisations must demonstrate a clear community or economic need, provide a full breakdown of project costs, and commit to equal opportunities.

What Funding is Available

Grants are offered in three tiers to suit different project sizes:

Small Grants – up to £1,000 for local initiatives

Medium Grants – £1,001 to £5,000 for wider-reaching projects

Large Grants – £5,001 to £10,000 for significant projects with strong community impact

The funding can cover a wide range of costs, including project materials, equipment, venue hire, workshops, training, community events, and even minor building improvements or energy efficiency measures.

What the Fund Will Not Cover

The scheme cannot fund political or religious projects, activities already completed, general running costs of large organisations, or projects that benefit only individuals.

How to Apply

Applications for Phase One of the scheme will close on 30 November 2025. Decisions will be announced in December 2025.

To apply, organisations must complete the online application form via the Maldon District Council website:
